Eaton Cummins automated transmissions were designed for superior reliability, performance and efficiency. This driver video will educate you on how to use Low mode as you head out on the road in your International truck.
First start the vehicle, apply the service brake, release the parking brake, select L on the shift stalk for Low mode. Selecting Low mode gives you first gear only.
Low mode is most commonly used while driving to maximize engine braking and minimize the use of the brake pedal. For example, if you are driving down long grades, selecting Low mode by using the shift stalk after cresting a grade, can maximize engine braking and help maintain a desired speed. You'll need to select D on the shift stalk to allow the transmission to go back into Drive mode.
When you're ready to stop, apply the service brake to come to a complete stop, select neutral on the shifter and pull the parking brake.
Please see our other Get2Know videos for instructions on additional modes and on operating vehicles from other manufacturers.
